Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Nuclear Envelope Research|
Cures Start Here. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch), home of three Nobel laureates, is an independent, nonprofit research institution dedicated to the development and advancement of biomedical research to eliminate cancer and other potentially fatal diseases. Recognized internationally for its pioneering work in bone-marrow transplantation, Fred Hutch’s five scientific divisions collaborate to form a unique environment for conducting basic and applied science. The Fred Hutch, in collaboration with its clinical and research partners, the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s, is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Pacific Northwest. Careers Start Here.
A post-doctoral research fellow position is available in the lab of Dr. Emily Hatch at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. The Hatch lab is part of the Basic Sciences Division and studies the structure and dynamics of the mammalian nuclear envelope (NE). The primary interest of the lab is to understand the molecular mechanisms that initiate NE remodeling and how defects in NE stability impact human disease, including cancer and laminopathies. More information is available at http://research.fhcrc.org/hatch/en.html
The fellow will be responsible for developing and executing a project related to the core interests of the lab, as determined by discussions with Dr. Hatch, with the goal of developing a new line of inquiry with which the fellow could start their own research program, if desired. The successful candidate will be a driven individual capable of independent research, as demonstrated by first author publication(s) and presentations, and superior written and oral communication skills.
