The Shock Trauma Outpatient Pavilion (STOP) at the University of Maryland Medical Center is a specialized, multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive follow-up care for trauma patients recovering from acute injury. Located within the renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, STOP supports continuity of care across trauma, neurosurgery, wound care, reconstructive surgery, and acute care emergency surgery services, ensuring patients receive coordinated, patient-centered treatment after discharge. General Summary

Under general supervision, assist physicians during examination of orthopedic patients and assist in maintaining orthopedic equipment and supplies.Fulfillment of the job duties requires the employee to have access to medication storage areas.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

• Certification as a Registered Orthopedic Technologist is required.

• 3 years of related experience is required.

• Completion of a training course in orthopedic technology plus one year of internship in orthopedics, or two and a half years experience as an aide in a medical facility, including two years experience assisting in orthopedics is required.

Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives.

1. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
2. Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
3. Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
